Here's the painted version of that bloodhound puppy I just submitted a while back. The reason I put so much work into this is that I recently saw a rather bad sculpture of mine sitting on a shelf at a friend's house. It was a horrible feeling. I don't like the thought of giving another piece of dung to somebody, so I kind of went overboard on this. Hopefully the fur texturing isn't too much.
Again, thanks to
You're my hero!
Thanks. I used very shiny paint on the eyes, and it shows. My little venture into the world of realism dodn't turn out nearly as badly as I thought it did.

Thanks for the complements. Surprisingly, it took less than an hour. I made a tool that's basically a few sewing needles of different sizes attached to a little stick.

I'm not a sculpter myself, but... advanced you want? Okay!
I think you did a good job on this. As a viewer, my biggest complaint is the bad quality of the photos you've posted. They're very grainy. And though I'm glad to see that you posted views from all around, making up for some of that, it's hard to make out some of the detail and the background is... well... distracting. White sheet! Or something.
From what I could see, switching between full and small view, I'm very impressed by your texturing. It looks to me like you really enjoyed what you were doing. The glow in the eyes and the painting on the muzzle look quite realistic, and all in all, for a venture into realism... it's not quite realistic, but not quite so warped as to feel wrong. It just feels like it has a little bit of a cartoonish stylizing. But with the photo's quality, of course, I can't entirely tell.
I looked back at your unpainted post of this as well. And I have to agree with the other reviews. Good job on the textures, by all means, you did NOT go overboard. People, animals... they're textured. There's no flat areas anywhere, really. It's just getting that texture right. And I think you got it right. Good work.
Thanks for the advanced critique!
I'm still figuring out the camera... I'll try to put my sculptures in a more neutral setting.
